The Sony Vaio VGN was a line of personal computers, manufactured by Sony Corporation. The VGN line introduced in 1996, was available in a variety of form factors, including laptops, desktops, and all-in-one computers. The VGN line was known for its sleek, high-end designs and its use of premium materials.

The Vaio VGN laptops were equipped with a range of features, including powerful processors, high resolution displays, and built in cameras. Some models also featured hybrid or solid-state drives for faster boot times and improved performance. Additionally, many VGN laptops had a distinctive, elongated touchpad that doubled as a numerical keypad, which was a unique feature for its time.

The VGN line targeted towards high end consumer and business markets. Professionals such as designers, photographers, and video editors, who require powerful laptops with high-quality displays would mainly prefer the model. However, the high price point and the eventual decline of the personal computer market, particularly the high-end laptop segment, led to Sony discontinuing the VAIO brand in 2014.

That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about Sony here.
