The Agat series was a line of 8-bit computers produced in the Soviet Union. The USSR Ministry of Radios commissioned three factories to manufacture the product line, including LEMZ. For the LEMZ, Lianozovsky Electromechanical Plant, in particular, the production was much more difficult, because the factory was intended for other divisions, the vehicle and radar equipment ones. More appropriate facilities were the EWT (Volzhsky Plant of Computer Technology) and ZEMZ (Zagorski Electromechanical Plant) ones.

Compared to other Soviet computer series, the Agat was the cheapest one, thus meeting a widespread adoption, especially in the educational sector across the whole Eastern Bloc.

That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the Lemz Agat 9 here.
