The VideoBrain Family Computer features a Fairchild F8 processor at 1.79 MHz and memory of only 1kB. It ran with the operating system of the APL/S version.
The model didn’t meet grand commercial success and only a few years after launch the company discontinued it. The home computer featured small RAM capacity, dut to high cost and poor design with unreliable and difficult keyboard.
Umtech Corporation, alternatively known as VideoBrain Computer Company, entered the computer market early, but with no success. Only three years after foundation, the company was labeled defunct and merged with the largest financial backer, the Cha Group.
Founders of the company were engineering managers at Intel developing the F8 processor for Fairchild. Prime problems were found in the funding and marketing parts of the whole process leading to the failure.
That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the VideoBrain Family Computer here.
