The SV-xxx series launched in the beginnings of the 1980s. Spectravideo, an American computer and video console manufacturer, released the 8-bit computer model in the 1983. It had elements similar to its predecessor, the SV-318, with differences like the absence of a joystick. The design, though, was in compliance with the MSX standard.

The first models of the series supported only a few peripherals, like a monitor and a joystick. Newer models offered more options, being able to connect to expansion cards, expanders, adapters for gaming (the famous ColecoVision ones) and cassette drives to mention only few.

That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the Spectravideo SVI 728 here.
