The IBM 3151 was a terminal, introduced by IBM in 1983, as part of the System/3x product line. Primarily used as a display terminal for IBM System/38 and System/36 mini computers, it was suitable as a terminal for mainframe computers such as the IBM System/370.

The 3151 featured a monochrome display and used the IBM 3270 terminal protocol, which allowed it to communicate with IBM mainframes and mini computers. It had a built in keyboard and a built in printer. It also supported a number of standard terminal modes, including VT100, allowing it for non-IBM systems.

The 3151 was designed to be a space saving terminal, and it featured a compact design that made it well suited for use in crowded environments such as trading floors and data centers. It was mostly used for the green screen display and input, in mainly IBM Mainframe environments, it was also one of the last model that IBM had in that category.

That was just a snapshot on the presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the IBM 3151 here.
