TECHDAY 29 June The first iPhone

On this TECHDAY in history, in 2007, the first iPhone went on sale in the United States. The two initial models were, a 4 GB model priced at 499 dollars and an 8 GB model at 599 dollars (both requiring a two-year contract). Hundreds of customers were lined up outside the stores nationwide in anticipation for the product. The announcement for this first generation iPhone was made by Steve Jobs, the then-CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007. Since then, Apple has been regularly releasing new iPhone models and iOS updates. iPhones have been wildly successful since their conception and have improved over time to become the subject of significant conversation. Their legacy in the traditional smartphone industry has changed the technology landscape and impacted society on a global scale.
