On this TECHDAY in history, in 2007, the first iPhone went on sale in the United States. The two initial models were, a 4 GB model priced at 499 dollars and an 8 GB model at 599 dollars (both requiring a two-year contract). The announcement for this first generation iPhone was made by Steve Jobs, the then-CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007.
