The Vertu Ascent features a GSM Network connection without antenna nor Wifi, but including Bluetooth. The operating system was the manufacturer’s and had color display and polyphonic sound.
The Vertu luxury handmade mobile phone manufacturer was founded in 1998. Established by Finnish tech giant Nokia, the corporation was based in the UK. The concept behind the product lines was to offer extravagant lavish phones available for elite clientele. If you would spend $20k on a watch, why wouldn’t you invest on a mobile phone as well?
The consumers’ reception was mixed. Newspapers and magazines of that time described the product line a tasteless trash, only to boast an economical high state. All models launched during the 2000s, but discontinued soon after. The Vertu Ascent model, was one of the earliest ones.
