Similarities and differences with the other series

As with the other series of the Finnish company, Nokia 8xxx series had something exclusive to offer to consumers and that was ergonomics, not just appeal. All the internal features of the phone of course presented similarities with models from other phone families, however here the level of functionality is set to a different level, because it targets to a wider consumer part, users with common demands. Many of these models presented the front slide keypad covers that increased the cost of production and were soon erased as a design.

For the sake of history, it is noteworthy to mention the other series briefly. The 3xxx series targeted the youth market, while the similar to 5xxx series included only some more advanced features. There were no series with a digit 4 prefix. The large East Asian market has serious superstitions with this number, thinking it would bring bad luck and misfortunes.

Continuing with the 6xxx series, the models included mid range to high end phones, especially business oriented. Their design was more conservative, serious and withdrawn. Completely opposite in appeal and concept was the 7xxx series. The target group was more fashionable conscious consumers, especially female users actually.

That was just a short presentation of the techmuseum series. Indulge more into the history. Continue reading more about the present model, the Nokia 8110 here. Alternatively, find more exciting stories here or here.
