The IBM System/2 Model P70 386 features an Intel 80386 processor at 16 or 20 MHz and memory of 4 MB. Equipped with a floppy disk at 1.44 MB and an HDD of 30, 60 or 120MB, it runs with the operating system of the IBM’s PS DOS 3.3 version, but with Windows as well.

IBM introduced the second generation of personal computers with this line. With the release in 1987, they replaced the IBM PC, AT and PC Portable bringing notable innovations. The company with the manufacture of this brand line attempted to recapture control of their own business, the personal computer division, after becoming just a minor player in their own market.

To note, the PS/1 line was released a few years later, with more limited featured machines compared to the business line.

IBM has a large variety of business divisions, ranging from hardware and software production to hosting services. For 29 consecutive years holds the record for most US patents generated. Furthermore, IBM, as a strong research organization as well, has presented inventions such as the FDD and HDD drives, the ATM, the SQL language for programming, the Barcode and DRAM among others.
